Another old conceptual piece. I'll copy verbatim the notes on what the hell this thing is XD
A heavily themed piece for a monthly art duel. The topic was 'Mythical Creatures - All Beings of the Imagination', and the myth part reminded me of my idea from ages ago that I barely started to develop, of the hierarchy of daemons from various cultures.
The result is this: Mithrandruj, daemon of false speech and deceit. When I researched the hierarchies, I eventually came up with a system where each daemon was recognisable by its horns - and as you can see, Mithrandruh has none. Rather, its deceitful and treacherous nature allow it to display the pretence of being the other daemons in various ways.
I wanted Mithrandruj to be very much a blank canvas, able to become any of the other major sins just by wearing the appropriate mask, because that's what lies DO develop into. The snake was also included due its connotations of treachery throughout history.
The daemon masks are as follows, going vaguely clockwise:
Right middle arm: Lilith of the Night
Left upper arm: Aeshma of Violence, Fury and Aggressive Impulse
Left shoulder: Belphegor of Sloth
Left middle arm: Saurva of Disease
Left lower arm: Indra-Vayu of Death
Left hip: Akoman of Evil Mind
Top and bottom right hip: Leviathan and Rahab of Chaos
Right lower arm: Az of Concupiscence
Right upper arm: Jeh, the daemon whore
Completed in 2004, graphite and coloured pencil.
Note: Critique only discouraged due to the age of the image.
